As a kick-off to the WEFMAX (Water Environment Federation Member Association Exchange) event, the Ohio Water Environment Association (OWEA) has collaborated with its South West Section (SWOWEA) to host a YP Summit on Wednesday, April 26th, 2017. The YP Summit aims to promote the exchange of skills, experiences, and knowledge from professionals with wide-ranging backgrounds uniting in a common understanding that - Regardless of Job Title, We Are All Professionals!

Presentations will be given from OWEA leaders from all backgrounds followed by roundtable discussions where attendees will be encouraged to actively discuss challenges and opportunities of their jobs. Attendees will be asked to keep their minds open, their expectations high, and their time investments worthwhile. We hope that all will take a chance, ask questions, provide thoughts, engage in conversations, and make connections.

A tour of the Mill Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant which began operation in 1959 will be provided. The facility is the largest plant in the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (known as MSD) and treats an average of 100 Million Gallons per Day (MGD).

Following the tour, attendees are invited to the Renaissance Hotel to further take part in the Member Association (MA) discussions and are welcome to attend the evening social event where they will continue to have an opportunity to socialize with water quality professionals from across the nation who all work in one profession or another to clean water and return it safely to the environment.

This event is primarily meant for Young Professionals (up to 35 years or those who have worked in the field for 5 years or less) who seek occupational development and networking opportunities within the water community. Students close to entering the workforce considering working in the water and wastewater industry are also welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided prior to the WWTP tour & Hor D’oeuvres will be available at the social event.
